Progressive
A lot of self-guided training never progresses. I start from your current ability and reassess it. That can mean a harder balance, more weight, a smaller piece of the movement, or more of the body in the same lift.
About
I'm a fitness coach in Wellington. Tell me the goal, and I will design a program that gets you there in a way you can keep doing.
I strongly disliked fitness when I was younger. Long-distance running is what changed that. After a marathon I wanted something new, so I threw myself into strength training and building muscle.
Deadlifts and back squats stopped being enough. I still wanted to get stronger, and I wanted to feel I was learning. The training I do now puts balance and mobility inside the strength work. Muscles still grow. So does skill: arm balances, range of motion, control that was not there last month.
I keep it enjoyable. I work around what you like, what you avoid, and what hurts. Comfortable deadlifts in a busy gym are welcome. So is bodyweight work at home.
Training does not have to be an uncomfortable experience to be effective.
I coach at CityFitness on Newlands Road, and I write programs for people who train somewhere else.
The program matches where you are now, and it moves when you do.
A lot of self-guided training never progresses. I start from your current ability and reassess it. That can mean a harder balance, more weight, a smaller piece of the movement, or more of the body in the same lift.
If exercise has often been painful, the program strengthens the joints and muscles around the injury. The load stays light at first, and grows as the strength does.
I meet you at the level you are comfortable with, and build something effective around that. You do not have to suffer for the work to count.
